All My Flights

The flight from DFW to LAX was uneventful, for which I am glad. But, it took FOREVER to get to the gate in LA because a huge plane had to be towed to the gate. Who's even heard of such of thing? Despite that setback, I still made it over to my other terminal, got checked in, and made it through security with plenty of time (pretty good considering I only had 1 hour and 40 minutes for the layover to start with). BUT I forgot to empty my bottle of water before security and it was confiscated. Of course, nothing (and I mean nothing other than the currency changer) was open inside the terminal. This was pretty disheartening as I was about to face a 13 hour flight without any water!! While I was trying to load up like a camel on the water fountain, I must admit that I looked at the bottle recycling trash can with a certain longing. Would it have been so wrong to take a bottle?? Don't worry, I didn't...but I did think about it for a brief minute. Okay, it was two minutes.

The flight from LAX to Taipei, Taiwan actually went very nicely. Although I was a little sad to have EVA air instead of Cathay, which I have heard amazing things about, EVA still seemed fine. The stewardesses were incredibly nice. My seat was moved because the person I was supposed to sit next to had a little baby and needed the extra seat for space. I moved to a place in the very back row, which I actually liked a lot. We had these fancy little screens (that took me forever to figure out how to work) that could play all kinds of music (you could even select songs you want and create your own playlist), tv shows of all different genres, and tons of movies. I watched some travel things and finally saw the movie Monsters vs Aliens. And, I slept, or at least tried to, a fair amount.

The last leg of the journey was fine, too. Well, I should say the last leg of my plane journey since the taxi from the airport to the dorm was certainly a part of the journey. The airport in Taipei had this crazy "hello kitty" gate all decked out in the hello kitty theme and with a play area for kids and even a store to buy all things hello kitty. You should be able to see a small piece of the craziness in the photo below.

Then, the flight to Cambodia was fairly short. It really just felt that way since I think it actually was longer than the flight from Dallas to LA. We flew over all these little islands with towns on them, but I have no idea what they were. Flying into Cambodia was so neat. It definitely looked different than anywhere else I've flown into. I have included some of my shots from the plane below so that you can see what I am talking about.

It is possible the picture above is Vietnam...I am not sure. I am pretty sure that it is the Tonle Sap, the river that runs through many of the countries in southeast Asia.

I think this is Cambodia. You can see how the river has flooded all the fields. This is what makes this area such a great place to grow rice and other things.

This is definitely Cambodia, just on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. Isn't it pretty? It was such an incredibly green place to fly into!

So, I made it here safely. Whew!
