Okay, now back in time for the updates....
Monday-Tuesday, Aug. 10th-11th:
Who knows what happened, but I definitely got food poisoning Sunday night. I woke up around midnight and felt awful. I finally got up to go to the bathroom and couldn't open the door to the bedroom!! It sticks sometimes, but I couldn't tell if it was locked or not or what. I was starting to freak out, and then one of my roommates woke up to open it for me. Literally half way to the bathroom I started to feel like I was going to throw up. And, throw up I did. Like 5 times. It was pretty crazy since I do not throw up. In fact, I that is the first time I have in five years and only the second time ever from actually being sick. Also, it is no fun to clean up after yourself when you are still not feeling well. Sigh. The joys of being a grown up, I guess. What a bummer!
I have no idea what caused it, but there was a lot of the little bit of dinner I ate. Unfortunately, it was something I really like (the ginger thing with preserved soy beans), and I don't think I will ever have the same relationship with it after this. For the next day I kept having these burps that brought that flavor - ick.
Monday --
I felt awful on Monday, but I have to get up at 10:30am to get dressed because we were going to the U.S. Embassy for a tour. It was a 30 minute tuk tuk ride there (waaayyyy far north and we are way far south), and I thought I was going to die every time we went over a bump. When we got there, it was a mess. I spent 50 minutes inside with securitt while the girls waited outside. At least inside I was able to sit down (I asked for a chair because I couldn't stand very much), and it was air conditioned. But, we never got the tour!!! I had the tour down for that Monday from 12-1:30 but we needed to arrive by 11:30 to go through security. Security had a note saying that we were coming the following Monday and had the names of all the girls but not of me. I couldn't get in touch with the person who arranged the tour because she was in a meeting all morning at one of the ministries, which was running late. And, no one at the embassy seemed to have heard of her or had her office number (so that I then could find out she was gone at meetings) because she is an intern. Eventually some other people came by and one said that he had volnteered to help with the tour on Tuesday and another said it was scheduled for Wednesday. So, each person thought it was for a different day! What a fiasco. I wasn't all that pleasant (not especially rude) because we had been waiting for 50 minutes with security who really didn't speak English and I felt awful. Anyway, we left. Here is a picture of the girls looking sad outside (on my instructions):

Everything got figured out later that afternoon. It seems that I had written Monday in all of my emails and had asked for confirmation of that day, but the person I was communicating with had written Wednesday once and then never really mentioned the day again, so she had it scheduled for Monday while I had it scheduled for Wednesday. Anyway, the girls decided to go back on Wednesday - more about that later!
The rest of the day I just lay down since I felt very badly. I do think that the peptobismal tablets helped some with the stomach problems. However, I also felt like I knd of had a low-grade fever all day, but I didn't want to take any ibprofen in case it would upset my stomach more - I couldn't really eat anything. Finally in the evening, I asked someone to go in and get me a sandwich from a western style cafe. I was able to eat that and was starting to feel a little better. Around 8pm I took some ibprofen, and when I woke up an hour later I felt a lot better - I think it took care of the fever.
Tuesday --
I felt soooo much better on Tuesday in comparsion to Monday. I was like a different person, but I still rested a lot. I felt fine when I was lying down, but standing up wasn't as good. I also got really worn out whenever I stood or did much for very long. This was kind of a bummer because we ran out of water at the dorm and were waiting for more to be delivered (monday and tuesday!!), so we had to go to the little shop across the street for water. It was really hard to get back up the three flights of stairs. Those trips pretty much wore me out. But, it did mean that I had cold water, which was nice. But, it wasn't a very good brand and tastes awful when it isn't cold anymore!
In the afternoon, I needed to go into town to get some pictures developed for my sister-in-law's mother. I wanted to give her something after she had been so nice and given me all of the fruit! I printed all the pictures that I took on my visits at her house and all of the pictures that I had on my computer of her daughter. It equaled about 100 pictures ($8 to get that printed - not too bad), and because it was so many I got to choose a big one to have printed for free. I chose this really nice one of my brother, sister, and I with my sister-in-law at Thanksgiving. Something interesting - when you get pics developed here, they still give you the little albums and they put all the pictures in there for you! It is so cute! Of course, I had to take them out and reorganize them because I am like that but it was nice of them. This trip wore me out, so I just collapsed for the rest of the evening.
